This lovely couple are called Fran & Josh. They were married at The Great Barn on the 2nd June this year.
They opted out of theming their wedding day and went for a truly informal celebration with vintage colours and a relaxed vibe.
Fran bought her dress from a lovely, local shop – Viva Bridal – around the corner from her Mum’s house. She wasn’t too worried about ‘labels’ or who the dress was by, she just knew what she liked. While Fran loved the material and shape of the dress, she didn’t want anything strapless so between the girl in the shop (who was brilliant!) her Mum and Bridesmaids, they came up with the idea of adding straps based on a belt that was in the shop.
Fran and Josh got engaged during a 6-month sabbatical that they spent travelling the World… in Fiji to be precise! While they were away, they couldn’t wait to start looking for the perfect venue, so scoured the internet while sitting on the beach for suitable places! As soon as Josh found the website for the Great Barn they just KNEW that was where they would get married! “We loved the look of it, we loved the pictures, the location was down the road from Josh’s parents and there was something about it that we were just so sure about.” says Fran, “We booked an appointment to see it within a week of coming back to the UK and knew as soon as we got there that we’d go for it!”
Fran told us about just some of the special moments they experienced… “One of the key highlights was actually the set up and getting to know John, Emma, Suzy and the team! They were amazing and took away ALL the stress, making it such an enjoyable lead up and such a special day.
And.. the FOOD. We loved the food and massively appreciated the exclusive deal with Dartmoor Kitchen who were amazing throughout.
Having the speeches in the garden during drinks was so lovely and meant we could have more people speaking.
One of the key special moments was actually walking down the aisle. The amount of effort that went into the lighting and music ensured it was a really special moment for everyone. As the weather was so lovely we did consider having the ceremony outside, but the atmosphere inside the barn was so so special we chose that… a nice decision to have to make!
We also loved the band who came all the way from London to play their Rockabilly style music. Rocket Street Trio really suited the style and acoustics of the barn and had everyone up on the dance floor!”
