Great Barn Weddings – Chloe & Tom
“When we visited and met John and Emma we immediately fell in love with the venue and got ‘that’ butterfly feeling – we hadn’t had that feeling about any other place we had seen so knew instantly it was the right place for us! “
It’s time for another look at one of the couples that chose to marry here at The Great Barn. Chloe & Tom were married on the 11th July last year and as you can see from the wedding photographs, courtesy of the very clever Lucy Turnbull, the happy couple were surrounded by loving friends and family and took full advantage of our beautiful gardens for their celebrations.
Tom and Chloe met when they worked together, but it was a romantic trip to Iceland where Tom got down on one knee and proposed at the Blue Lagoon.
Let’s hand over to Chloe to find out more about their summer wedding…
“We came across The Great Barn on an internet search and Dad, who had previously been to a corporate event there, said it was a fantastic place. When we visited and met John & Emma, we immediately fell in love with the venue and got ‘that’ butterfly feeling – we hadn’t had that feeling about any other place we had seen so knew instantly it was the right place for us!
“The cottages that can be hired to stay in are so lovely and John and Emma were both very friendly and professional. We were also impressed with their caterers. On the day the guests were raving about the food. Once we had talked things through with John and Emma we knew we could rely on them to help make our day special and run smoothly – which it certainly did!
“My Mum, Mother-in-Law and Maid of Honour had a great day out dress hunting and we found my David Fielden dress and veil at Carina Baverstock Couture in Bradford-upon-Avon and loved it! For my accessories I visited Olivier Laudus in London with some friends who helped me choose my earrings, bracelet and hair accessory. My bouquet, along with all the wedding flowers, was made by a beautiful florist in Bristol, Belle de Jour, and it was made of one of my favourite flowers – sweet peas – and smelled amazing!
“Tom wore a dark navy ¾ length suit with a blush pink cravat and looked very handsome!
“We didn’t really have a theme but for colour we tried to incorporate white, blush pink and a touch of pale green where we could. John and Emma allowed us to be quite creative and our florist made and put up a large orchid tree in the Barn which was stunning. They also sourced hay bales so we could prop up our cricket bats table plan for the wedding breakfast. We also hired giant games such as Snakes and Ladders and Jenga and had a coconut shy which was great fun!
“We got to spend a very special day with most of our closest family and friends and especially my family from America, Australia and France who we don’t see often enough and flew far and wide to be with us. Tom got to have both his Dad and his son Daniel as his best men which was very special for him. We also had a wonderful saxophonist play our favourite song as I walked down the aisle which was a beautiful and emotional moment.
“We certainly would recommend this fantastic venue. Not only is it a beautiful setting but John and Emma helped the entire planning of the wedding run without a hitch and helped make our special day feel very relaxed as we knew we were in good, trustworthy hands. Their experience and advice is invaluable and we would love to live the day all over again!”
