Great Barn Devon Weddings – Katie & Chris
We spoke to the lovely Katie & Chris about their recent wedding at The Great Barn Devon. With images courtesy of Photography by Justin & Emily, we recommend you grab your favourite brew and take a load off for a few minutes, to digest this beauty.
Katie’s choice of wedding gown is inspired, unique and totally gorgeous!
Over to Katie…
“I was a chalet girl, Chris was a ski instructor. We met in Nendaz, Switzerland in 2008.
There was no actual proposal; it was very relaxed. We just found a beautiful ring and went from there. We had an 8-month-old Phoebe so it was going to be very relaxed anyway!
The Great Barn is a stunning location. We fell in love with the place; it was just what we wanted with location, self-catering and a stunning Barn. John and Emma were brilliant!
My gown was never going to be white… I found the outfit in Coast one day and absolutely loved the colours. I tried it on and just knew that it was the perfect outfit for the day! Shoes were from Monsoon and the earrings came from Case Fina in Salisbury. Chris wore a traditional kilt.
I found my make-up artist (Lips & Locks) and florist (Martha and The Meadow) separately. They were both incredible. Our photographers were Justin & Emily Krause, we met them at a friend’s wedding on the Isle of Mull; friends of the family. Justin then posted on Facebook in September a wedding he did at The Great Barn, so we sent my parents off to recce it then came over from Dublin to see it ourselves. so, thanks to Justin really! And social media!
Our colour scheme was based on the dress colours, so bright and with a punch. Emma the florist got the colour scheme brilliantly.
It was just an amazing day full of everyone we love, in a great location with super staff to make sure it went well! The build-up was great fun too; I loved planning the day and it was just super. It was just a really fun day with lots of laughs and great food and booze!
Emma and John have it nailed. Dartmoor Kitchen were fabulous and gave us the menu we asked for. It was just beautiful.”
