Great Barn Weddings – Lotty & Chris
With the weather challenging us all this month we are beginning to think that hibernation is a great idea! And while we are hiding under blankets and drinking our body weight in hot chocolate, we have also been looking back over wonderful couples from last year.
Today’s blog post features the lovely Lotty and Chris, who had a winter wedding here last November. They met whilst on a training course at work and the rest is history. Let’s hand you over to Lotty to explain more and share with you their fabulous wedding weekend, starting with the proposal a year before…
The images are by the ever-talented Christian Michael, someone we could recommend again and again and again.
“Chris had arranged for us to have a weekend away in Cornwall in a campervan near St Ives in November 2018 for our “getting together” anniversary. During the weekend, we drove to Sennen Cove beach. It was a beautifully sunny but windy day. We had a little picnic on the beach, after which Chris asked me to turn around whilst he prepared a special anniversary “G&T”. When he asked me to turn around, he was on one knee with a lovely sparkly engagement ring!
We found The Great Barn online and thought how beautiful it looked just on a screen. The weekend we got engaged, we arranged to view TGB on the following Monday. We were absolutely blown away as soon as we arrived and soon realised even the photos online didn’t do the venue justice! The barn itself was overwhelmingly stunning and it was very clear how well run the venue was as we were shown around by John. We loved it so much that we didn’t want to view any other venues, it was just perfect.”
“I wore a Stella York princess cut ivory dress. It was lacey and lovely. I also wore a waist length veil with a diamante trim. I wore a lovely pair of Rainbow wedding shoes, although swapped these for some sparkly Converse trainers for the evening party so I could dance the night away more comfortably!!
Chris wore a dark blue Ted Baker suit with burgundy tie and pocket square, with tan Ted Baker shoes.”
“We used Sarah Pepper Flowers as our florist. She has a very good understanding of the venue and knew exactly what would work and where. We also used Christian Michael Photography who I would also highly recommend. He has also photographed at this venue many times before so knew exactly where the best shots could be taken. He is also such a friendly and funny guy to have at the wedding, to the point that it felt like he was a guest. The photos themselves are so lovely and have captured the day perfectly.
We had a burgundy theme which really complimented the cold wintery day that it was (although we were so lucky with the weather as it was a sunny and crisp day). We also had gin centrepieces on the tables during the feast, with each guest having a small bottle of pink gin as their wedding favour.”
“It’s SO difficult to choose one special moment as it was all so amazing. The general feel of the venue was just so perfect – the grounds of the barn, the barn itself were presented beautifully. A highlight for me was the moment we walked out of the barn after getting married, to a walkway that had been created by our guests for us to walk through, with confetti being thrown at us as we walked through as they all cheered. Having all the people we love all in one place cheering and smiling at us having just got married was an unforgettable moment!
If you are looking for a wedding venue, you will not regret getting married at The Great Barn. The staff are SO professional, with special thanks going to John. He will run your wedding day with military precision and will leave no stone unturned! I felt 100% confident that the day would run smoothly with John running the show. The food is FANTASTIC – with most of our guests commenting on how amazing it was. We have had several guests say it was the best wedding they have ever been to, and I’d say that is down to the venue. Absolutely stunning and perfect in every way.”
