Great Barn Weddings – Lotty & Chris

With the weather challenging us all this month we are beginning to think that hibernation is a great idea! And while we are hiding under blankets and drinking our body weight in hot chocolate, we have also been looking back over wonderful couples from last year.

Today’s blog post features the lovely Lotty and Chris, who had a winter wedding here last November. They met whilst on a training course at work and the rest is history. Let’s hand you over to Lotty to explain more and share with you their fabulous wedding weekend, starting with the proposal a year before…

Great Barn Weddings – Rhiannon & Troy

It’s only been a few weeks since the wedding of Rhiannon & Troy, but we love these photographs from Sarah Jayne Photography so much, we just had to share them as soon as we could.

Great Barn Weddings – Jessica & Richard

Bridesmaids were a soft pastel, floral delight and Richard looked very dapper in his blue three-piece complete with buttonhole. Of course it was Jessica who shone that weekend, along with the sun, and all the guests could sit back and enjoy the garden wedding underneath our arbour.

Great Barn Weddings – Cat & Reece

We particularly love the picture of Cat, respendent in her gown, looking off (to her new husband perhaps) and the shot of every single loved one who came to share their wonderful day, waving and laughing. It truly sums up a cracking weekend for us all at The Great Barn Devon.

Great Barn Weddings – Katy & Rich

This beautiful couple are Katy & Rich. They were married in the Great Barn last September and, as you will see from the images captured by the very talented Rebecca Roundhill, it was a day filled with sunshine and laughter.

Great Barn Weddings - Chris and Andrew - Sam Gibson Photography

Great Barn Weddings – Chris & Andrew

This wonderful couple were married at The Great Barn Devon last month, ably assisted by their very handsome Wire Fox Terrier called Spike. Andrew gave us a quick run down of the day… “We couldn’t have wished for a better day, plenty of sunshine but just enough cloud to keep everyone cool.  As you can imagine, the Medieval costumes were quite heavy and with too much sun we’d have been suffering.

Building A New Gazebo For Outdoor Weddings

So that our brides can get married in the garden we are building a beautiful gazebo. We’ve used oak which has been cut from our woodland. The roof will be made from individual shingles from larch, sourced from a timber yard in the Teign Valley. Next step is to have it licensed and then we are good to go. The plan is for our brides to make their entrance through the little arched gate in our courtyard and walk the length of the lawn….on a fine summer’s day what could be more perfect!
